The front entrance to Finca Vigía, Hemingway’s home in Cuba.

Dear Friends,

These last 8 months have been a difficult time in the United States, Cuba, and in so many countries worldwide. First and most importantly, all of us from the Finca Vigía Foundation hope you and your loved ones are healthy.

We learned this week that Museo Hemingway, also known as Finca Vigía, recently reopened as Cuba cautiously responds to a decline in the cases of COVID-19. We pray that their numbers continue to decrease. We are very happy to learn that all of our colleagues in Cuba are well at this time. They tell us they are “adjusting to the new normal.”

While we have not been able to travel to Cuba since February 2020 due to travel restrictions, we have been in contact electronically. We have also been quite busy actively planning for the future.

We have an updated web site! Please take a look. It is at the same address: fincafoundation.org

Of special note on the web site is a description of a new proposed 5-year project for the complete architectural preservation of Ernest Hemingway’s home. Preservation of the home—most notably water and termite damage—is critical to protect the author’s extraordinary collection within.

It is an ambitious and bold endeavor.

We look forward to embarking on the work with our colleagues in Cuba when it is safe to do so. Fundraising will begin shortly. Please stay in touch for details as they emerge. And thank you all for supporting our work to preserve Ernest Hemingway’s legacy in Cuba.

With warm regards,

Mary-Jo Adams
